Total Time: 45 minutes
Servings: 24
Yield: 24 sliders

Ingredients

  • Cooking spray
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 (1.25-ounce) envelope onion soup mix
  • 2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 24 dinner rolls, split
  • 1/2 cup sliced pickles, optional

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and lightly coat it with cooking spray. Lightly grease a second sheet of aluminum foil and set it aside for covering the sliders.
  2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, combine the ground beef and onion soup mix. Cook, breaking the meat into crumbles, until the beef is browned and cooked through, about 5 to 7 minutes. Drain and discard any excess grease.
  3. Remove the skillet from the heat. Stir in the shredded Cheddar cheese and mayonnaise until the mixture is creamy and well combined.
  4. Arrange the bottom halves of the dinner rolls on the prepared baking sheet. Spoon the beef mixture evenly over the roll bottoms. Add sliced pickles, if using.
  5. Place the roll tops over the filling. Cover the sliders with the greased sheet of aluminum foil.
  6. Bake for about 30 minutes, or until the sliders are heated through and the cheese is melted.
  7. Let the sliders cool for a few minutes before separating and serving warm.

Chef’s Notes

  • Brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter before baking for a richer flavor and golden finish.
  • For a classic burger-style slider, serve with ketchup, mustard, or burger sauce on the side.
  • You can swap the Cheddar for American, pepper Jack, Swiss, or Colby Jack cheese.
  • Add cooked bacon, sautéed onions, or jalapeños to make the sliders even heartier.
  • These sliders can be assembled ahead of time, covered, refrigerated, and baked when ready to serve.
