Servings: 4 burgers
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
- 1/2 onion, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup shredded Colby Jack or Cheddar cheese
- 1 large egg
- 1 (1-ounce) envelope dry onion soup mix
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed dried rosemary
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 4 hamburger buns
- Your favorite burger toppings and condiments
Directions
- Preheat an outdoor grill to high heat and lightly oil the grill grates to prevent sticking.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped onion, shredded cheese, egg, onion soup mix, minced garlic, garlic powder, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, parsley, basil, oregano, rosemary, salt, and pepper.
- Mix gently with your hands until everything is evenly combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the burgers tender and juicy.
- Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape into thick burger patties. Press a slight indentation into the center of each patty to help them cook evenly.
- Place the patties on the hot grill and cook for about 4 to 5 minutes per side, or until the burgers are cooked through and nicely charred on the outside.
- Use an instant-read thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches at least 165°F (74°C).
- Toast the hamburger buns if desired, then serve the burgers hot with your favorite toppings and condiments.
Chefs Notes
- For extra juicy burgers, use ground beef with a little fat content such as 80/20.
- Try topping these burgers with crispy bacon, caramelized onions, or sautéed mushrooms for even more flavor.
- If cooking indoors, these patties also work great in a cast-iron skillet or grill pan.
- Serve with fries, onion rings, potato salad, or coleslaw for the ultimate cookout meal.
