Chill Time: 4 hrs
Total Time: 4 hrs 20 mins
Servings: 5

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons instant espresso powder
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons coffee liqueur
  • 8 ounces full-fat cream cheese, chilled
  • 1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 1/4 cups chilled heavy cream
  • 15 ladyfinger cookies (or as needed)
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder (or as needed)

Directions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together warm water, espresso powder, and sugar until fully dissolved. Stir in coffee liqueur and set aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat cream cheese, confectioners’ sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth and creamy.
  3. Pour in the chilled heavy cream. Begin mixing on low speed, gradually increasing to medium-high, and beat until the mixture is light, fluffy, and forms stiff peaks.
  4. Break one ladyfinger in half, quickly dip each piece into the espresso mixture, and place them in the bottom of a dessert cup.
  5. Spoon about 3 tablespoons of the cheesecake mixture over the ladyfingers and spread evenly.
  6. Dip additional ladyfinger halves in the espresso mixture and layer them over the cream. Top with 5 to 6 tablespoons of the cheesecake mixture and smooth the surface.
  7. Repeat layering with remaining cups until all ingredients are used.
  8. Place the filled cups into a baking dish lined with a kitchen towel to prevent shifting. Cover loosely and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.
  9. Before serving, dust each cup with cocoa powder. Keep leftovers refrigerated.

Chefs Notes

  • Dip ladyfingers quickly to avoid over-soaking—they should be moist but not soggy.
  • For a non-alcoholic version, simply omit the coffee liqueur.
  • Chilling overnight enhances flavor and texture significantly.
  • Serve in clear cups for a beautiful layered presentation.
