Orange you glad you decided to read this blog for this refreshing quick recipe? Ok. I decided to try a little humor here and I am hoping you got it. “Laughter is good medicine for the soul.”

These Dipped Chocolate Orange Slices are similar to the Lays Potato chip slogan: “Betcha can’t eat just one.” I can answer that question with a resounding NO because there is not enough willpower in me to challenge you.

I love oranges. They are the sweetest around this time of year. I recently purchased a bag from my local grocery store and I am so glad I did. I usually buy individual oranges but I love a good deal. I got a dozen oranges in a bag for $6.00. The bonus? The oranges were so juicy and sweet they tasted like sugar in my mouth. The individual oranges were running around $1.29 which for me was a no-brainer to save money and buy a bag. Not that I was going to buy twelve individual oranges for that price. I normally get about three or four when I purchase them separately. When I compared the individual price of oranges to the bagged orange price, I saved almost $9.00. Does anyone else get as excited about a big savings like I do? If so, we think a lot alike.

I often see street vendors selling oranges on the side of the road and I keep telling myself during my hurried drive, that one day I am going to stop and buy an entire bag of oranges from them. The bag of oranges is huge! I’m guessing about 20 oranges in a bag for about $10.00. They look super sweet. I know I need to give myself time to stop and support the fruit vendor because I could save even more money. I may never get oranges from the grocery store again.

It seems everyone here in Southern California has an orange tree. Last year, one of my former neighbors gave me an entire box of oranges and they were delicious. How neighborly of her right? She was very proud of her orange tree and I was happy to reap the fruits of her labor.

For this recipe, I simply peeled one of my store-bought bagged oranges and dipped half of the orange slice in melted dark chocolate. I then placed the dipped orange slices on a plate lined with parchment paper and sprinkled a few of them with a little sea salt on top of the chocolate. Yum! Yum! I let the slices chill in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes. Talk about a perfect snack.

The dark chocolate paired perfectly with the sweet orange. I tasted a sea-salted one too and it immediately made my tongue tingle with the salt, dark chocolate, and oh so sweet orange. Feel free to experiment with other concoctions. If you like milk chocolate and I do too, at times, try that. Add coconut or nut pieces on top of the chocolate. Or simply eat them plain.

I love dipping things into other things. Envision an artist with a paintbrush. I just use my kitchen utensils for creativity in my kitchen. My canvas is my palate and my tongue gets painted with delicious treats. I hope you will try these Dipped Chocolate Orange Slices. It is quite a pleasing combination and I definitely couldn’t eat just one. And, I “Betcha YOU can’t eat just one” either. Enjoy!
